Soft Guard No. 1

Visual Impact

Freckled forearms cross over a raised knee, filling the monochrome frame with hands, skin, one shoulder, and the lower half of a man’s face. The gesture acts as both portrait and screen. Familiar bodily details—knuckles, veins, cloth, and stubble—make the closeness human without requiring a full expression.

Artistic Detail

The forearms intersect at center and divide the visible face from a dark tank below. Broad hands reach toward opposite edges, giving the close crop a firm structure. Freckles and veins remain legible within the reduced palette, adding fine surface to the larger geometry.

Interior Context

A medium square keeps the pose physically near and the skin detail readable. Place it above a low bedside cabinet or console at close viewing distance. Pair it with Soft Guard No.2 as a two-work study, or give it a separate wall; a dark frame supports the monochrome edge.

Quality & Presentation

Produced on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper and professionally framed in solid wood, the work is available in the sizes and frame finishes shown in the product options.

For Your Collection

The crossed pose carries protection without complete withdrawal. Hands, freckles, and direct bodily detail keep the image specific. Within the Queer Art & Gay Wall Art Edit, the portrait studies how a male figure can offer and withhold access at once.

The provenance of this piece begins with you.

Framing Guide

Made to last, every work is framed to order in wood with white mat board and UV-filtering acrylic.

01
Wood frames, made to order
Each frame is built and assembled for the selected artwork. Wood grain and tone vary naturally, particularly in Natural and Deep Natural.
02
White mat board
Both frame styles use white mat board scaled to the selected artwork size. Discovery Series works are set within a cut 2.4 mm conservation-grade mat. Editions Series works are floated over an uncut mat, with a spacer preventing the artwork from touching the acrylic.
03
UV-filtering acrylic
Both frame styles use clear UV-filtering acrylic. In the Editions Series Frame, a spacer keeps the floated artwork from touching the acrylic.
04
Ready to hang
Discovery Series Frames use a Cobra hook up to 70 × 100 cm and a sawtooth hanger above that size. Editions Series Frames arrive with hardware selected for the finished size and weight.
05
Custom sizing
Need a different size? Custom dimensions are available by request. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm artwork ratio, print resolution, frame availability, and pricing.

Frame dimensions describe the moulding profile. Finished dimensions vary according to the selected artwork size and mat.
