Soft Gaze

Visual Impact

A freckled face turns upward into a narrow band of light, with sharp eyes, deep cheek shadow, and a dark blurred ground. Freckles and the upward look make the encounter immediate without prescribing an emotion. Light grants access to the eyes while the rest remains protected.

Artistic Detail

The beam crosses the eyes and upper cheek, leaving the lower face to fall away in shadow. Freckles register as a fine surface pattern against the larger division of light and dark. The upward angle elongates the features and gives the sharp eyes room within the close crop.

Interior Context

Black, umber, and warm skin tones suit darker bedrooms, studies, and libraries, especially alongside walnut, bronze, or chalky walls. The close portrait can hold a small wall alone or add direct eye contact to a group of averted figures. Give the horizontal portrait medium-to-large width above a low cabinet; hang it solo and place the eyes near standing sightline for direct encounter.

Quality & Presentation

Produced on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper and professionally framed in solid wood, the work is available in the sizes and frame finishes shown in the product options.

For Your Collection

Soft Gaze is built from limited access: eyes and freckles emerge, while the lower face recedes. That restraint makes the portrait valuable without assigning identity or inner life. Freckles make the encounter particular before identity can be named.

The provenance of this piece begins with you.

Framing Guide

Made to last, every work is framed to order in wood with white mat board and UV-filtering acrylic.

01
Wood frames, made to order
Each frame is built and assembled for the selected artwork. Wood grain and tone vary naturally, particularly in Natural and Deep Natural.
02
White mat board
Both frame styles use white mat board scaled to the selected artwork size. Discovery Series works are set within a cut 2.4 mm conservation-grade mat. Editions Series works are floated over an uncut mat, with a spacer preventing the artwork from touching the acrylic.
03
UV-filtering acrylic
Both frame styles use clear UV-filtering acrylic. In the Editions Series Frame, a spacer keeps the floated artwork from touching the acrylic.
04
Ready to hang
Discovery Series Frames use a Cobra hook up to 70 × 100 cm and a sawtooth hanger above that size. Editions Series Frames arrive with hardware selected for the finished size and weight.
05
Custom sizing
Need a different size? Custom dimensions are available by request. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm artwork ratio, print resolution, frame availability, and pricing.

Frame dimensions describe the moulding profile. Finished dimensions vary according to the selected artwork size and mat.
