Rover Field Notes - No. 1

Visual Impact

A shirtless man in dark sunglasses and pleated trousers stands beside a pale green utility vehicle under a heavy grey sky. The figure's bare torso and sharply pleated trousers make self-presentation as important as the useful machine and open weather around him. Neither figure nor Rover dominates the horizon.

Artistic Detail

The image is built around the relationship between figure, vehicle, and horizon. His vertical stance interrupts the long pale-green body, while sunglasses, belt, pleats, bare skin, utilitarian metal, and diffused cloud light register as distinct physical details.

Interior Context

Olive, grey, tan, and black make this an easy fit with oak, canvas, leather, or stone. It can hold a broad wall alone or enter a salon of landscapes and portraits, linking clothing, vehicle form, and open weather. Above a low cabinet, let the mid-to-large vertical work keep the figure at sightline while the vehicle and horizon remain clearly legible around him.

Quality & Presentation

Produced on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper and professionally framed in solid wood, the work is available in the sizes and frame finishes shown in the product options.

For Your Collection

This Field Note matters because clothing, body, useful machine, and land are inseparable. Within Queer Art & Gay Wall Art, male self-presentation enters the automotive series without assigning identity or biography. Dress and machine become equal forms of self-presentation.

The provenance of this piece begins with you.

Framing Guide

Made to last, every work is framed to order in wood with white mat board and UV-filtering acrylic.

01
Wood frames, made to order
Each frame is built and assembled for the selected artwork. Wood grain and tone vary naturally, particularly in Natural and Deep Natural.
02
White mat board
Both frame styles use white mat board scaled to the selected artwork size. Discovery Series works are set within a cut 2.4 mm conservation-grade mat. Editions Series works are floated over an uncut mat, with a spacer preventing the artwork from touching the acrylic.
03
UV-filtering acrylic
Both frame styles use clear UV-filtering acrylic. In the Editions Series Frame, a spacer keeps the floated artwork from touching the acrylic.
04
Ready to hang
Discovery Series Frames use a Cobra hook up to 70 × 100 cm and a sawtooth hanger above that size. Editions Series Frames arrive with hardware selected for the finished size and weight.
05
Custom sizing
Need a different size? Custom dimensions are available by request. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm artwork ratio, print resolution, frame availability, and pricing.

Frame dimensions describe the moulding profile. Finished dimensions vary according to the selected artwork size and mat.
