Open Door

Visual Impact

Two men stand within a narrow carved doorway, one in a long dark coat and one with bare skin, both surrounded by shadow. One figure is protected by a coat while the other stands more physically exposed. Eye line, posture, and distance carry the exchange, making the open doorway a place of negotiation rather than a neutral backdrop.

Artistic Detail

The carved frame creates a tall enclosure inside the image, tightening the space around both figures. Dark coat and bare torso establish opposing tonal blocks, while the doorway’s ornament supplies finer detail along the edges. Deep shadow withholds the room beyond and concentrates attention forward.

Interior Context

Black, white, and warm grey work with dark-painted trim, pale stone, oak, or metal. Use a medium-to-large vertical format at the end of a passage or beside a bookcase; hang it solo so the full doorway and the exchange between clothed and exposed figures remain intact.

Quality & Presentation

Produced on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper and professionally framed in solid wood, the work is available in the sizes and frame finishes shown in the product options.

For Your Collection

Within Queer Art & Gay Wall Art, the work holds difference without assigning a relationship: protection and exposure occupy the same threshold, and each figure remains alert to the other. Open Door is built around difference and containment: covered and bare figures within one narrow threshold.

The provenance of this piece begins with you.

Framing Guide

Made to last, every work is framed to order in wood with white mat board and UV-filtering acrylic.

01
Wood frames, made to order
Each frame is built and assembled for the selected artwork. Wood grain and tone vary naturally, particularly in Natural and Deep Natural.
02
White mat board
Both frame styles use white mat board scaled to the selected artwork size. Discovery Series works are set within a cut 2.4 mm conservation-grade mat. Editions Series works are floated over an uncut mat, with a spacer preventing the artwork from touching the acrylic.
03
UV-filtering acrylic
Both frame styles use clear UV-filtering acrylic. In the Editions Series Frame, a spacer keeps the floated artwork from touching the acrylic.
04
Ready to hang
Discovery Series Frames use a Cobra hook up to 70 × 100 cm and a sawtooth hanger above that size. Editions Series Frames arrive with hardware selected for the finished size and weight.
05
Custom sizing
Need a different size? Custom dimensions are available by request. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm artwork ratio, print resolution, frame availability, and pricing.

Frame dimensions describe the moulding profile. Finished dimensions vary according to the selected artwork size and mat.
