Fire Island Vintage - No. 2

Visual Impact

A shirtless figure lifts a mirrored sphere beneath a second mirror ball as reflections scatter across clustered bodies. One figure lifts a mirror ball while another stands beyond him, turning the dance floor into a shared act of making light. The black-and-white scene holds collective pleasure through bodies, reflection, and motion rather than spectacle alone.

Artistic Detail

The two spheres establish a vertical rhythm while fragmented highlights repeat across skin and surrounding figures. A tight crop removes the room’s edges, so scale becomes uncertain and the reflected facets take over. The tight tonal range keeps the many points of light from competing with the two dominant spheres.

Interior Context

Strong contrast and a compact composition make the work effective against plaster-white paint, dark wood, mirror, or brushed steel. Choose a larger format above a low cabinet so both figures and both mirror balls remain distinct; keep it solo to protect the dark negative space.

Quality & Presentation

Produced on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper and professionally framed in solid wood, the work is available in the sizes and frame finishes shown in the product options.

For Your Collection

Within Queer Art & Gay Wall Art, the scene values collective pleasure and the labor of creating it. One figure lifts the mirrored sphere while another stands beyond him, shifting the Fire Island Vintage series from individual portraiture to shared movement and reflected light.

The provenance of this piece begins with you.

Framing Guide

Made to last, every work is framed to order in wood with white mat board and UV-filtering acrylic.

01
Wood frames, made to order
Each frame is built and assembled for the selected artwork. Wood grain and tone vary naturally, particularly in Natural and Deep Natural.
02
White mat board
Both frame styles use white mat board scaled to the selected artwork size. Discovery Series works are set within a cut 2.4 mm conservation-grade mat. Editions Series works are floated over an uncut mat, with a spacer preventing the artwork from touching the acrylic.
03
UV-filtering acrylic
Both frame styles use clear UV-filtering acrylic. In the Editions Series Frame, a spacer keeps the floated artwork from touching the acrylic.
04
Ready to hang
Discovery Series Frames use a Cobra hook up to 70 × 100 cm and a sawtooth hanger above that size. Editions Series Frames arrive with hardware selected for the finished size and weight.
05
Custom sizing
Need a different size? Custom dimensions are available by request. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm artwork ratio, print resolution, frame availability, and pricing.

Frame dimensions describe the moulding profile. Finished dimensions vary according to the selected artwork size and mat.
