Fire Island Storm

Visual Impact

Dense blue-grey clouds press toward a low ocean horizon, leaving only a narrow band of warmth between storm and water. A narrow peach glow keeps the water from disappearing beneath the cloud mass. The image holds the bodily memory of watching a storm arrive, when color sharpens just before the coast turns dark.

Artistic Detail

The composition depends on proportion: a vast, active cloud field above a thin, nearly level horizon. Cool greys and deep blues gather in broad masses, while the warm line at the base prevents the image from closing into darkness. The contrast makes distance feel both immediate and immense.

Interior Context

Blue-grey color and strong vertical scale suit pale woods, charcoal upholstery, brushed metal, or warm white walls. Use a large format between windows, above a narrow console, or at the end of a hall; keep it solo so the low horizon and heavy cloud shelf can command the wall.

Quality & Presentation

Produced on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper and professionally framed in solid wood, the work is available in the sizes and frame finishes shown in the product options.

For Your Collection

It belongs in Coastal Wall Art as a weather study in which the coast is felt through pressure, color, and distance. This piece extends the Atmospherics gallery through weather rather than scenery.

The provenance of this piece begins with you.

Framing Guide

Made to last, every work is framed to order in wood with white mat board and UV-filtering acrylic.

01
Wood frames, made to order
Each frame is built and assembled for the selected artwork. Wood grain and tone vary naturally, particularly in Natural and Deep Natural.
02
White mat board
Both frame styles use white mat board scaled to the selected artwork size. Discovery Series works are set within a cut 2.4 mm conservation-grade mat. Editions Series works are floated over an uncut mat, with a spacer preventing the artwork from touching the acrylic.
03
UV-filtering acrylic
Both frame styles use clear UV-filtering acrylic. In the Editions Series Frame, a spacer keeps the floated artwork from touching the acrylic.
04
Ready to hang
Discovery Series Frames use a Cobra hook up to 70 × 100 cm and a sawtooth hanger above that size. Editions Series Frames arrive with hardware selected for the finished size and weight.
05
Custom sizing
Need a different size? Custom dimensions are available by request. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm artwork ratio, print resolution, frame availability, and pricing.

Frame dimensions describe the moulding profile. Finished dimensions vary according to the selected artwork size and mat.
