Body of Water No. 1

Visual Impact

A shirtless figure is seen from behind in Body of Water No. 1, one hand raised to dark hair against bright water and foliage. One hand lifted into wet hair turns the pose into a familiar private gesture. In black and white, muscle, water, and rock become less descriptive and more about the feeling of surf receding from skin.

Artistic Detail

The lifted arm creates a diagonal above the shoulders and breaks the compact silhouette of head and torso. High contrast separates dark hair and foliage from the brighter water, while the rear view concentrates attention on gesture, back, and the surrounding light.

Interior Context

The monochrome palette fits a bath, bedroom, study, or coastal room and can bridge darker and lighter works in a gallery wall. A medium-to-large placement on a bedroom wall above a slender cabinet keeps the body near eye level; pair only with one monochrome water study.

Quality & Presentation

Produced on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper and professionally framed in solid wood, the work is available in the sizes and frame finishes shown in the product options.

For Your Collection

Within Queer Art & Gay Wall Art, the unguarded rear view lets vulnerability register through posture rather than facial expression. As the first Body of Water work, this image introduces the series through a simple raised-hand gesture and a back-facing figure.

The provenance of this piece begins with you.

Framing Guide

Made to last, every work is framed to order in wood with white mat board and UV-filtering acrylic.

01
Wood frames, made to order
Each frame is built and assembled for the selected artwork. Wood grain and tone vary naturally, particularly in Natural and Deep Natural.
02
White mat board
Both frame styles use white mat board scaled to the selected artwork size. Discovery Series works are set within a cut 2.4 mm conservation-grade mat. Editions Series works are floated over an uncut mat, with a spacer preventing the artwork from touching the acrylic.
03
UV-filtering acrylic
Both frame styles use clear UV-filtering acrylic. In the Editions Series Frame, a spacer keeps the floated artwork from touching the acrylic.
04
Ready to hang
Discovery Series Frames use a Cobra hook up to 70 × 100 cm and a sawtooth hanger above that size. Editions Series Frames arrive with hardware selected for the finished size and weight.
05
Custom sizing
Need a different size? Custom dimensions are available by request. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm artwork ratio, print resolution, frame availability, and pricing.

Frame dimensions describe the moulding profile. Finished dimensions vary according to the selected artwork size and mat.
